Objective:
The objective of the assignment is to provide high level coordination for the Qatari partnership (Silatech/ROTA) harnessing the strengths of Shabab Balad as a multi-sectoral, multi-stakeholder partnership. The consultant will support the GenU Manager in leading the overall coordination to help shape the partnership and create the enabling environment for its success and for extended impact.
The coordination role will involve:
● Establish and maintain a high-impact coordination mechanism for management and accountability of the employment partnership with Silatech that incorporates the UN, govt, civil society, private sector, youth partners involved in the partnership (linked to the Shabab Balad Board/Coalition)
● Support GenU team in the internal and external coordination of the partnership.
● Support the coordination among different sections to ensure visibility and accountability on the partnership
● Conduct outreach to key private sector and other partners so that they contribute to the success of the programme and its long-term sustainability
Interventions are designed to ensure that by the end of the partnership:
● Young people are empowered with knowledge, skills, and resources to positively engage in climate action in their communities
● Learning to Earning pathways across Egyptian national services are strengthened, consolidated, and piloted
● Adolescents and youth, particularly girls, learn and acquire skills to support their transition from leaning to earning
● Young people in Egypt are supported to gain employment
● Support the strengthening of PPYP governance structure (Shabab Balad) to achieve Learning to Earning (L2E) national commitments in Egypt.
Coordination Mechanism:
● An internal Shabab Balad Task Force meeting takes place monthly in UNICEF to discuss partnership progress update and way forward to ensure meeting Shabab Balad objectives.
● A steering committee is formed from the implementing partners that meets monthly to ensure partners delivery of target versus plan.
Methodology:
● To support this work, UNICEF / Shabab Balad is seeking an innovative, dynamic and transformative Project Coordinator for this new partnership that develops a work plan that gets reviewed monthly in Shabab Balad Task force. A high level of coordination with the GenU Officer, Programmes team, Steering Committee and Task Force needs to take place under the supervision of GenU Manager that entails close working relationship and monitoring and coordination process to ensure achieving results on time.
● The project coordinator will provide a high-level coordination for the implementation of the Qatari partnership (Silatech and ROTA), leveraging the strengths of Shabab Balad as a multi-sectoral, multistakeholder initiative. This role will support the GenU Manager in steering overall coordination efforts, helping shape the partnership and creating the enabling environment needed for its success and long-term impact.
Key Responsibilities:
-Lead and support the coordination of key initiatives including Silatech and ROTA. The coordinator will play a strategic role in guiding overall coordination to ensure the partnership’s objectives are met.
-Establish and maintain a robust coordination mechanism that ensures effective management and accountability across all stakeholders involved-UN agencies, government bodies, civil society, private sector and youth partners. This mechanism will be closely linked to the SB Advisory Board and Coalition.
-Prepare regular reports for GenU HQ to ensure visibility and accountability of partnership,
-Work closely with the GenU manager, programme and partnerships team and other UN agencies to align efforts and maximize impact.
-Drive outreach efforts in coordination with UNICEF Egypt CO partnerships team, to engage key private sector organizations, UN agencies, civil society, and other strategic partners, ensuring their contribution to the programme’s success and fostering long term sustainability; while ensuring at the same time compliance with UNICEF private and public engagement guidelines as well as documentation of the engagement efforts.
-Work with the GenU Officer to support communication and visibility efforts, as required, to highlight the partnership’s progress and achievements, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the process
ACTIVITIES, DELIVERABLES AND TIMELINES, PLUS BUDGET PER DELIVERABLE:
Under the management of Generation Unlimited Manager, the incumbent will:
● Lead coordination mechanism for management and accountability of the employment partnership that incorporates the UN, govt, civil society, private sector, youth partners involved in the partnership
● Design and set-up the coordination mechanism
● Manage and run quarterly high-level coordination committee meetings
● Ensure full documentation, reporting and follow-up from the coordination mechanism / committee meetings
● Support the Gen-U Officer to coordinate on the communication and visibility of the employment partnership.
● Liaise with relevant partners and key stakeholders to ensure smooth intra-project communication.
● Prepare regular progress reports that summarize key achievements, milestones, challenges, and next steps.
● Attend in-person events and meetings related to the project.
● Conduct outreach to key private sector and other partners that can contribute to the success of the employment partnership.
● Harness personal and professional networks to mobilize private sector organizations and other employers to support and contribute to the partnership
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
-Advanced University degree is required in the field of Mass Communication, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or more than 20 equivalent years of experience in the related scope.
-At least 20 years of experience of mega projects management.
-Previous working experience with donors with large portfolio of funding in projects with scale, preferably in the field of employment and climate action.
-Demonstrated previous track record of successful partnership management, reporting, monitoring and evaluation
-Proven network amongst private sector and employers
-Strong relationships with key government sectors focused on employment.
-Experience or knowledge of the UN system is an asset.
-Fluency in English and Arabic are required.
