 JOB OBJECTIVE 

The Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Unit is recruiting a Data Manager to standardize and strengthen the management and use of pharmacovigilance data in the African region. This also involves maintaining and improving the various electronic platforms used by Member States to implement effective pharmacovigilance.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

The candidate will be responsible for the following responsibilities which will be performed according to the needs and agenda:

1. The VIGILOGOS source code is edited for improvement and bug fixing.

2. Pharmacovigilance forms in the AFRO-GIS platform (PADACOR) are maintained: 1-PHARMACOVIGILANCE notification forms, PHARMACOVIGILANCE SUPERVISION forms, IMPUTABILITY forms, ACTIVE SEARCH forms and EXTERNAL QUALITY CONTROL forms…, dashboards (performance monitoring, epidemiological analysis, supervision)

3. Data is extracted monthly, converted to e2b and transmitted to the national pharmacovigilance focal points for import into Vigiflow®

4. Safety monitoring reports are compiled and the regional report is written.

5. Safety monitoring is integrated into all regional epidemiological reports

6. Support is provided for periodic data mining and signal detection

7. Standard operating procedures on safety data processing are drafted

8. A consultancy report is submitted

Expected results:

1. Optimization of VIGILOGOS.

2. Maintenance of Pharmacovigilance forms in PADACOR.

3. E2b conversion of all notification data

4. Collection of surveillance reports.

5. Periodic data mining and signal detection .

6. Development of SOPs on the processing of safety surveillance data. 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, ASSETS AND LANGUAGES

Academic qualifications: 

Essential:

University degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, or any other related field. 

 Desirable:

Master's or Master's degree in Computer Science, specialized training in Computer Programming, training or university degree in health sciences.  

Experience :

Essential :

●Have at least 2 years of experience in the field of computer programming.   

Desirable (asset):

Experience in data management related to Public Health. Have knowledge in pharmacovigilance data management.

Experience with United Nations agencies

Assets/Knowledge:

● Statistical background (eg Power Bi R/Stata, Excel/Numbers/Google Sheets) 

● Programming tools (CISCO, SQL, ArcGIS, Azure, net core, Javscript, MSSQL)

● Tools/Language for processing vigilance data (Vigiflow, e2br3, ODK collect ®, DHIS2)

● Communication tools (Power Point/Keynote) 

● Collaboration tools (eg MS Teams)
