Physiotherapist the Straight Child Foundation (TSCF)

The Straight Child Foundation (TSCF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children with cerebral palsy, clubfoot, and other childhood disabilities. Our mission is to ensure every child with a disability has access to comprehensive care, rehabilitation, and a chance at a better quality of life.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Physiotherapist

Location: Umuahia, Abia

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview

● We are currently seeking a compassionate and qualified Physiotherapist to join our team and lead physiotherapy sessions for children in our care.

● The Physiotherapist will be responsible for planning and delivering individualized and group physiotherapy interventions tailored to the specific needs of children with Clubfoot, Cerebral Palsy (CP), and other childhood disabilities.  

● The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing mobility, function, and independence for beneficiaries while also supporting caregivers through training and guidance.

 Key Responsibilities

● Assess the physical and functional needs of children with clubfoot, cerebral palsy, and other disabilities.

● Design and implement individualized physiotherapy treatment plans.

● Conduct regular therapy sessions and monitor progress toward developmental goals.

● Collaborate with caregivers, community health workers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care.

● Educate parents and caregivers on home-based therapy techniques.

● Maintain accurate treatment records, progress notes, and reports.

● Lead community outreach and disability awareness programs.

● Support the development of rehabilitation protocols and capacity building within the team.

Qualifications and Experience

● Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy or Physical Therapy from a recognized institution.

● Candidates with NYSC experience and have keen interest in child physiotherapy are strongly encouraged to apply.

● Current license or registration with a relevant professional body.

● Should be interested in working with children with clubfoot, cerebral palsy, and other developmental or physical disabilities. 

Key Competencies:

● Excellent knowledge of therapeutic approaches for managing clubfoot, cerebral palsy (CP), and similar childhood conditions.

● Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with children, families, and team members.

● Ability to develop trust with families and promote active caregiver involvement.

● Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to improving the lives of children with special needs.

● Strong documentation and reporting skills.

● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
