OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To provide technical assistance to the health sector response to HIV/AIDs in Northern Sudan.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the direct supervision of the Medical Officer, and the general guidance of the WHO Representative; the incumbent will assist the WCO HIV/AIDS team leader in providing technical support to the MOH on HIV/STI surveillance. S/he will:

1.Assist in the development of policies and strategic and operational plans of the national AIDS programme on HIV/STI surveillance.

2.Participate actively in the development of technical guidelines, manuals and educational material on HIV/STI surveillance.

3.Organize and facilitate training workshops.

4.Provide guidance and technical support during the planning and implementation of HIV/STI surveys.

5.Provide supportive supervision and mentor HIV/STI surveillance staff of the MoH.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University degree in Medicine or Social Sciences.

Desirable: Post graduate degree in public health or epidemiology with training in HIV/STI surveillance methodologies.

Experience

Essential: At least 5 years in the field of HIV/AIDS out of which 3 years of active involvement in HIV/STI surveillance.

Desirable: Experience in monitoring and evaluation of HIVAIDS and STI programme

Skills

● Very good understanding of HIV and STI surveillance.

● Very good knowledge of principles of disease control.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 68,565 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
